Today's water image is rather dramatic, wouldn't you say? While Hurrican Erin has not made landfall, those of us on the Delaware Shore are certainly feeling her effects. Whether serene or stormy, I find it all quite beautiful.

I was chatting with a treasured guest recently about her experience on a river cruise of the Danube. One thing she noted was the (perhaps self-imposed) pressure she felt to participate in everything the good folks at Ama Waterways had to offer in the way of included excursions. You see, this venerable river cruise company (the best on Europe's great rivers in my view) includes two expertly curated and guided tours every day during the course of your sailing. I generally participate in both of them. I love walking around a new or even previously explored city, listening to the well-versed guides tell stories, and chatting with other guests. Turns out not everyone feels the same way. I totally get that.
