Turnstile at Trevi

Above is an old shot from Associated Press of the crystal-clear water at the base of the Trevi Fountain in Rome, arguably the most iconic fountain in the world.

I've been trying to remember my first visit to this famous landmark. I had to resort to my very first travel journal to find that I first saw this wonder on March 17, 1975. This is what my way younger self said: "Finally took myself down to the Trevi Fountain - wo". Gosh; how poetic young Jacqueline was!

I also read that I had gone almost a month having nightmares each night. I had forgotten that awful part of my semester in Italy. No matter - the rest was grand.

Now: back to the Trevi. I've long advised my treasured guests to try getting there at sunrise. It's quite spectacular to see Signora Sole as she peeks through all those ancient buildings.
